An Erie, Pa., company has been awarded the contract to supply the Town of West Seneca with garbage and recycling totes.
Rehrig Pacific Co. was among six companies that bid on the job.
It will cost more than $1.4 million to supply, assemble and distribute the 17,500, 95-gallon garbage totes and 15,000, 65-gallon recycling totes.
The Town Board voted on the contract at its meeting earlier this week.
But there’s still more work to be done before the totes are rolled out.
“The next step is to retrofit the plumbing,” said Town Supervisor Sheila M. Meegan, “to make the garbage trucks capable of lifting the garbage totes, along with changing the language of the town law regarding garbage – how it’s placed at the curb.”
