The Sparrow vs. the Seagull
The little bitty sparrow,
Small as a yellow chick,
Competes with the seagull,
So huge and so thick,
For crumbs and bits of
Burgers and fries that fall
Beneath Buffalo Harbor
Picnic tables.
The sparrow, so quiet and polite,
The seagull, squawking with all its might,
Spreads its wide wings
To show the sparrow who’s boss.
The little warrior is at a loss
To find ways to get his share,
Except some people do care
And wait for the gulls to go
Then drop some food just so
At the little sparrow’s feet.
