LEWISTON – A motorist struck and killed a pedestrian who was crossing Model City Road near his home about 5 p.m. Thursday, Lewiston police said.
Officers said Jose Martinez, 84, was walking across the highway to deliver food to a neighbor when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Maura H. Nolan, 82, of Ridge Road, told officers that she stopped after she heard an impact on her vehicle and never saw Martinez. Police said she did not veer from her lane. No charges were filed immediately. An investigation is continuing.
