Code Blue alert issued; shelters and warming centers to be open

The Buffalo City Mission has issued a Code Blue weather alert for today and Tuesday. The mission, 100 E. Tupper St., will be open all day and night to receive people escaping the winter storm and frigid temperatures.

St. Luke’s Mission, 325 Walden Ave., also is open for the homeless.

The City of Buffalo announced 11 warming centers will be open today and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday. Any city resident, regardless of age, can make use of the centers. They are:

Autumnwood Senior Center, 1800 Clinton St., 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Edward Saunders Center, 2777 Bailey Ave., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FLARE, 307 Leroy, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hispanics United, 254 Virginia, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Old First Ward, 62 Republic St., 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Richmond/Summer Senior Center, 337 Summer St., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

North Buffalo Senior/Community Center, 203 Sanders Road, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tosh Collins, 35 Cazenovia St., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

West Side Community Services, 161 Vermont St., 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

William-Emslie YMCA Senior Center, 585 William St. 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Schiller Park Community Center, 2057 Genesee St. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
