The Seneca Nation of Indians will sponsor “Hang Up and Drive” programs to stress the dangers of distracted driving at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Cattaraugus Community Center, 12767 Route 438, Irving, and at 1:30 p.m. in the Allegany Community Center, 3677 Administration Drive, Salamanca. Both are free and open to the public.
Leading the sessions will be Jacy Good, a campaigner against distracted driving who has appeared frequently on television, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” She was hospitalized for four months in 2008 following a crash that killed her parents and was caused by a driver talking on a cellphone.
“Hang Up and Drive” programs also will be presented Thursday in Silver Creek High School and Lake Shore Central High School and Friday in Gowanda High School and Salamanca High School.
