Longtime trial attorney and Buffalo School Board member John B. Licata has been tapped by the Erie County Water Authority Board of Commissioners to serve as the organization’s lead attorney.
Board Chairman Francis G. Warthling said Licata’s appointment was approved Thursday by the board over several other candidates who also applied for the position.
“We felt strongly that Mr. Licata had the best qualifications based on his experience and extensive record of accomplishments as a trial attorney,” Warthling said.
Licata, who has more than 21 years of legal experience, worked as a trial attorney at the Amherst-based legal firm of Hogan Willig for the past 19 years. In his role as lead attorney for the water authority, he will earn an annual salary of $114,000, according to Brian Gould of E3 Communications, a spokesman for the authority.
Licata has served as an at-large member on the Buffalo School Board since 2009.
