If you were watching the Super Bowl for the commercials last night (and at a certain point weren't we all watching for the commercials by the second quarter) you saw a brief glimpse of the handiwork of Canisius sophomore defenseman Chris Rumble.
Back in May 2012 after he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia he gathered other pediatric patients, doctors and nurses to create a video to Kelly Clarkson's song "Stronger."
The video went viral and Microsoft came knocking asking to use a clip in its Super Bowl ad about empowering technology.
Rumble played in 14 games his freshman year and with an off-season to improve his fitness and game shape after his treatments has been a regular in the lineup for the Ice Griffs this season. He has played in 20 games (a healthy scratch for six) and has four goals and nine assists while working on his getting his consistency back.
For your viewing pleasure, here's the ad (Rumble's bit is featured at the 43 second mark) followed by the complete video Rumble produced in 2012.
