Weather issues cut short Sharpton’s visit to Buffalo

The Rev. Al Sharpton canceled his planned Sunday appearance at a Swan Street church after weather issues forced him to change his travel plans and fly out of Buffalo earlier than expected.

The founder and CEO of the National Action Network civil rights organization, author of “The Rejected Stone” and host of “Politics Nation” on MSNBC did address the Sunday morning worship service of Elim Christian Fellowship Church in Buffalo’s Central Park neighborhood.

But he wasn’t able to stay in town long enough to give the sermon at an afternoon service in Delaine-Waring AME Church titled “The Struggle Continues.”

His appearance was part of a Black History Month celebration – albeit two days late – sponsored by the church and the local chapter of the network.

Sharpton’s absence was announced and explained at the start of the service, which went on without him.
