WHEATFIELD – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said they found a car swerving in and out of its lane multiple times as it traveled north on Williams Road after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged the North Tonawanda driver who appeared to be intoxicated.
Mark A. Matthews, 30, of Payne Avenue, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely and refusal of breath screening.
Matthews was stopped on Rebecca Drive and admitted he had drunk five beers. A chemical test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.19 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit for intoxication of .08 percent.
