FORT ERIE, Ont. – The Ontario Municipal Board’s denial of an appeal has cleared the last legal hurdle to building the proposed $400 million, 65,000-seat Canadian Motor Speedway in Fort Erie.
The three-member board rejected the appeal from the Preservation of Agricultural Lands Society, stating it had “not made a convincing and compelling case, if indeed, any case.”
Azhar Mohammad, the project’s executive director, has stated in the past that there will be an attempt to attract NASCAR races and rock concerts to the site, which would be parallel to the Queen Elizabeth Way, about two miles from the Peace Bridge.
