LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said Monday she wants to make sure Jonathan K. Banks of Medina spends at least 10 years in prison for a series of burglaries.

Banks, 21, of South Townline Road, admitted Monday to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree burglary. He acknowledged entering a home on High Street in Lockport Sept. 5, one of three burglaries he committed in Lockport that day, according to Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell.

But Banks also is under investigation for as many as 20 burglaries in three different towns in Orleans County, Caldwell said. Farkas she had been told Banks was likely to receive at least a 10-year sentence there. She said she will make her sentence, to be imposed Sept. 17, run simultaneously with the Orleans County sentence – as long as it’s at least 10 years. The judge told Banks if he isn’t convicted of anything in Orleans County, he will serve five years for the Lockport break-in.
