West Seneca residents who’ve complained that the town’s 95-gallon garbage totes are too large or unwieldly can exchange them for a smaller model.
Approximately 300 of the larger totes have been traded in for 65-gallon models since the exchange program began late last week, according to Matt English, the public works superintendent. Most of the people trading down are elderly or live alone.
Other residents – particularly those with large families – have purchased additional large totes, English said.
There’s no deadline for the exchange. “As long as we have them, they can exchange them,” English said.
The quickest way to make an exchange is to bring your current tote to the Highway Department at 39 South Ave., English said. Otherwise, call 674-4850 to get your name on a list for a town employee to come by your home.
