Naked Tree
Haven’t seen your beauty
Since late last Fall.
There is nothing left but twigs,
Not a single color at all.
Winter has stripped
Your colorful costume.
Warmer weather is near,
It can’t come too soon.
Today we have to imagine
The beautiful sight to see.
So bushy and green,
Like an artist’s canvas to me.
There’s nothing more elegant
Than a tree in full bloom,
A vast array of colors,
Like a bountiful plume.
It’s too bad it can’t
Be green all year ’round.
A more beautiful sight
Is nowhere to be found.
Right now there’s no leaves,
Just empty branches the wind made.
We’ll look forward to the day
It will provide cooling shade.
So don’t get discouraged
By this temporary fate.
Beauty will soon return,
The best God can create.
