Former School Board member Ralph R. Hernandez is running for another term on the board.
Hernandez aid he waited to see who else was running before deciding whether to ask voters to return him to the board.
“I wanted to wait and see what the field looked like. It doesn’t look like there’s much experience out there,” said Hernandez, referring to the other 12 candidates who have declared their interest. “I certainly will be the most experienced candidate in the race.”
He served on the board for nine years, until 2013. When he ran for re-election then as the West District representative, he was thrown off the ballot because of problems with his nominating petitions. He waged an unsuccessful write-in campaign against James Sampson.
Hernandez is now running for one of the three at-large seats – each for a five-year term.
