A Western New York native is reported to be among the 14 people wounded during a shooting Wednesday at Fort Hood, Texas, in which four people died, including the alleged gunman.

A report on the WIVB-TV website identified him as Maj. Patrick Miller, a native of Allegany, and said that he underwent surgery Wednesday night.

According to his profile on LinkedIn, Miller is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, where he earned a degree in physical education in 2003 and was a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).

Since joining the Army in 2003, he served two tours in Iraq, first as medical platoon leader, then as a logistics adviser to the Iraqi Army. He has been brigade comptroller at Fort Hood since last August.
