NIAGARA FALLS – The United Way of Greater Niagara will honor several award winners Thursday for helping out during last year’s fund drive.
The awards will be given at the United Way’s annual meeting, set for 8 a.m. Thursday in the Seneca Niagara Events Center, 300 Fourth St.
R. Thomas Weeks will receive the Norman Sinclair Humanitarian Award; Ray Roffle, the “Think Positive … Think United Way” Award; Roberta Fraser of North American Hoganas, the Outstanding Employee Coordinator Award; Marilyn C. Lojek, Shining Star Award; and Thomas Vogt, of Treibacher and the United Steelworkers, the Labor Community Service Award.
Also to be honored are the Grigg-Lewis Foundation, with the President’s Award; Washington Mills and Steelworkers Local 1-2058, the Caring Cup Award; and Northpointe Council, the Service Cup Award.
Horizon Awards will go to Confer Plastics; DuPont, Goodyear and the Steelworkers locals at both plants; Niagara Thermal; PolyOne; Occidental Chemical and the Niagara Hooker Employees Union; Tops Friendly Markets and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union; and Trek Inc.
