The village of Kenmore is one of two dozen finalists selected for the 2014 All-American City Award, according to an announcement by the Kenmore Village Improvement Society.
The village learned Wednesday it made the cut into the finals for “the country’s most prestigious award for outstanding, community-based civic accomplishments.”
The award is given annually by the National Civic League, which recognizes 10 communities for outstanding civic accomplishments. Each winning community must show “innovation, inclusiveness, civic engagement and cross-sector collaboration by describing successful efforts to address pressing local challenges.”
“Kenmore Village Improvement Society members worked hard to create a compelling application that vividly portrays the quantity and excellent quality of civic engagement here in Kenmore,” said Melissa Foster, president of the society.
“There are 24 other great communities throughout the United States that have been chosen as finalists so we know that obtaining the award will be difficult,” Foster said. “But we’re looking forward to preparing for the challenge and are honored to be selected as finalists.”
