LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary Wednesday for his role in the June 20 attempt to steal copper plumbing from a vacant house on Haeberle Avenue in that city.

Steven A. Willard Jr., 21, of 20th Street, is to be sentenced June 11 by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III. Willard and Cameron A. Paul, 20, of Haeberle Ave., were charged with cutting down pipes in the house. Paul pleaded guilty in December and was assigned to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.

Another Falls burglar who succeeded in that program received his legal winnings from Murphy Wednesday. Samual E. Neal, 26, of Buffalo Avenue, was granted a conditional discharge. He originally pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary for the April 22, 2012, theft of money and drugs from a home on South Transit Street in Lockport.
