LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Legislature is making progress on contracts and wage agreements with its employees.

New agreements are:

• Members of the supervisory bargaining unit for sheriff’s deputies – 1 percent pay increase, retroactive to January 2013, and a 2 percent increase retroactive to January, with annual 2 percent increases for 2015, 2016 and 2017.

• Managerial and confidential managers – annual 2 percent wage increases for the same time period as the sheriff’s deputies supervisory unit pact. Employees will be required to pay $82 every two-week pay period for family health coverage or $65 for two-person coverage.

• Part-time and seasonal employees, substitute, part-time and temporary nursing home employees – 2 percent effective May 4, with 2 percent increases for 2015, 2016 and 2017.

• Department directors – 2 percent increases for this year and 2015.

Under consideration are increases for administrative employees.

A public hearing will be held at 3 p.m. April 23 in the Legislative Chambers of the Cattaraugus County Building on hikes of 2 percent this year and in 2015 for county commissioners, the county administrator, as well as increases for election commissioners, county treasurer, county clerk and four county coroners,

“Taking these steps speaks well of the Cattaraugus County Legislature,” said Legislator James Snyder Sr., R-Olean. “We still have some work to do, but with these agreements, we are bringing all of them to the same time frames.”
