One person died when a car apparently involved in a race crashed through a barrier, fell approximately 30 feet onto the Kensington Expressway and burst into flames early Saturday morning.
Two vehicles were racing down Main Street at a high rate of speed about 1:30 a.m. when one of the vehicles went the wrong way down Woodlawn Avenue, crashed into a guard rail on the upper section of Humboldt Parkway and careened onto the Kensington, hitting a jersey barrier and burst into flames, according to accident Investigator Martin Forero.
Emergency crews attempted to extricate the male driver but authorities say he died at the scene.
The second vehicle also crashed and that driver is being questioned by police.
The Kensington has been closed in both directions from Best Street to the Scajaquada.
