A 30-year-old East Amherst Street man was arrested for illegally entering a vacant house in the 600 block of Walden Avenue shortly after he allegedly attempted to burglarize a nearby home early Tuesday.
Donald A. Washington was arrested about 3:45 a.m. as he reportedly was trying to escape from police through a rear exit from the vacant house at 631 Walden. Moments later a Brinkman Street woman called 911 and reported a man she later identified as Washington as being the suspect who tried to break into her house about 3:20 a.m. before she chased him away. Washington was charged with a felony count of attempted burglary and criminal trespass.
