Hilbert College and St. Bonaventure University, seeking to enroll more veterans on their campuses, have hired an Air Force veteran to develop a new Office of Veteran Affairs for the schools.

Morgan Woodson, who served in Afghanistan in 2010 and is currently pursing a master’s degree in public administration at Hilbert, will split time between the two campuses in Hamburg and near Olean.

The new AmeriCorps VISTA post is being funded for one year by Serve New York at the Service Collaborative of Western New York.

The institutions expect to develop an Office of Veteran Affairs to recruit veterans and increase the number of services provided to them and their families at Hilbert and St. Bonaventure.

Woodson will coordinate with student admissions to conduct veteran outreach, design and implement veteran specific orientations, increase community awareness, research best practices, and enhance services offered at both campuses.
