A man in his early 20s found lying face-down and unconscious in the shallows of Ellicott Creek off Old Niagara Falls Boulevard on Monday evening was listed in critical condition this morning in Erie County Medical Center, Amherst police said.
The victim, who carried no identification but later was identified, was revived, taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and then transferred to ECMC. Police have not released his name.
Amherst police said the man, who fell into the creek from his bicycle, was found at about 7:45 p.m. Monday. Investigators have not released any information about how they think he fell off the older Schwinn mountain bike.
Amherst Police are asking anyone with information about the mishap to call them at 689-1311.
