A West Seneca man who was talking on his cell phone while driving in Lackawanna ended up being arrested for having drugs Friday evening, officials said.

James R. Thompson, 21, of Tindle Street, was pulled over at 5:30 p.m. by a state trooper on Ridge Road, police said, after he was observed talking on his cell phone.

The trooper noticed .308 caliber rounds on the floor of the vehicle and proceeded to search it, authorities said.

The trooper found 60 amphetamine salt tablets, and Thompson did not have a prescription for the pills, according to police. He was arrested, charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and issued an appearance ticket.
