LOCKPORT – The City and Town of Lockport will host several events Saturday and Sunday during the annual “Christmas on the Canal” celebration.

From 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, downtown businesses will hold an open house offering special deals, raffles and promotions.

Also, from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Niagara County Deputy Sheriffs Association office in the Bewley Building on Market Street, two veterans of the Buffalo Bills 1964 and 1965 American Football League champions, Booker Edgerson and Charley Ferguson, will sign free autographs.

At 6, the annual lighted Christmas parade will march along Main Street. At 7:15, there will be caroling and other entertainment in the Historic Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave., followed by a free showing of “The Polar Express.”

The focus shifts to the town Sunday, when Winterfest will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in Day Road Park.

Santa arrives at noon and will receive children all afternoon in his small house in the park. Horse-drawn carriage rides, hot chocolate and other treats will be available.
