OLEAN – Nearly four dozen units will take part in Olean’s annual Santa Claus Lane Parade on Friday evening. Mercy Flight of Western New York will officially kick off the procession with a helicopter fly-over, then shine an overhead light on the parade route.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. near the Burger King restaurant on North Union Street, then proceed south on Union past Lincoln Park, then disperse at Henley Street.
North Union Street will be closed to traffic at 6. Local singer Dawn Elizabeth will perform carols at 6:15 from the WPIG platform at Routes 417 and 16, and the Bent Brass Ensemble will play from 6:30 to 7:15 near Blue Bird Square. There will be free parking in the city’s downtown lots.
