A parolee convicted of attacking a Buffalo police officer who stopped him after he was seen driving erratically and hitting parked cars was sentenced Wednesday to one year in the Erie County Correctional Facility.
City Court Judge Diane Wray imposed the sentence on Otis Williams, 27, of Rodney Avenue, Buffalo, who was convicted by a jury in January of third-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. She ordered the one-year jail sentences on each count to run concurrently.
Williams had faced a maximum jail term of two years.
Williams was arrested Nov. 10, 2012, after Detective Dawn Lopez and Officer Joseph Mullen responded to a call about a car hitting parked vehicles on Rodney. They saw Williams walking away from the car.
Williams, who was in violation of a curfew imposed by his parole officer, fought with Lopez, threw her to the ground and fled. Mullen chased him and made the arrest.
Williams earlier this year completed a prison term for violating parole in connection with a 2008 felony conviction.
