Remember the bottleneck on Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda last summer? Get ready for some more.
Construction will cause lane closures on the Sheridan Drive extension in the Town of Tonawanda starting Tuesday.
The lane closures will take place on Sheridan (Route 325) between DuPont Avenue and the main entrance to the Dunlop plant, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The southbound left lane on Sheridan at the intersection with Kenmore Avenue will be restricted to left turns only.
The DOT will work in front of piers where Interstate-190 travels over Sheridan, then mill and pave that section of the road.
The work is expected to last about four weeks, but may be delayed in the event of bad weather. Drivers are advised to expect delays, particularly during the morning and afternoon rush hours, and allow for extra travel time.
Road work last year on a section of Sheridan between Grand Island Boulevard and Delaware Avenue caused some major delays.
Motorists are also reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
