NIAGARA FALLS – Pravin Mehta, the former doctor accused of fraudulently dispensing huge amounts of prescription drugs while he was practicing medicine in a Main Street office building, told police Saturday that someone stole a refrigerator valued at $1,200 from that location. Nothing else was reported missing.
The theft is believed to have occurred Saturday morning.
Mehta, of Getzville, was indicted by a federal grand jury last September on dozens of counts stemming from the alleged illegal dispensing of numerous controlled substances, according to published reports.
Prosecutors then were trying to seize $1.5 million the former doctor allegedly collected a result of the drug operation.
