Buffalo Prep, a program sponsored by the University at Buffalo that helps economically disadvantaged students finish high school and go to college, has received a $470,000 grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation for its Rising to Distinction program.
The RTD program offers social support groups, tutoring, mentoring, preparation for college tests, help with admissions and financial aid, college presentations, academic competitions and cultural events. Since RTD began in 2000, annual grants from the Oishei Foundation have assisted 837 Oishei Scholars and 554 RTD students.
